Chapter 6: Training the Mind
Krishna devotes Chapter 6 to the subject of mind management. He explains that the mind can be a helpful friend or a difficult companion depending on how it is trained.
Arjuna admits that controlling the mind feels impossible. Krishna acknowledges the challenge but assures him that steady practice and detachment can gradually calm the mind.
Young people often feel overwhelmed by their thoughts. Stress, overthinking, social comparison and fear of failure create mental restlessness. Krishna’s guidance encourages gentle, regular practice such as focused attention, steady breathing or consistent reflection.
Krishna does not expect instant control. He emphasizes gradual improvement. A student who practices focused study for short periods each day begins to strengthen concentration. A person who takes time to sit quietly and observe their thoughts learns to respond with clarity rather than haste.
Chapter 6 teaches that a calm mind is the foundation for intelligent action.
