Chapter 13: Knowing the Self and the World

Chapter 13 explains the difference between the self and the field in which the self acts. The body and mind form the field. The conscious self experiences that field. Understanding this difference creates clarity.

Krishna describes the qualities that help a person grow in understanding. Humility, patience, honesty and self control help the mind stay clear.

Young people can observe these teachings in daily life. When one recognises that thoughts and emotions are experiences rather than identity, reactions become softer. Decision making becomes wiser.

Chapter 13 encourages Arjuna to understand himself deeply so that he can act with greater awareness.
