Chaitra Ekadashi 2025: Date, Rituals, and Significance of the Sacred Fast

In Hinduism, Ekadashi Vrat holds special significance as it is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Two Ekadashi fasts are observed in the Chaitra month, each with its own importance. It is believed that following this rigorous fast makes Lord Vishnu extremely pleased, granting devotees their desired blessings. When is Papmochani Ekadashi?

According to the Hindu Panchang, the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of Chaitra month will begin on 25th March 2025 at 5:05 AM, and it will end on 26th March at 3:45 AM. In Hindu tradition, the Udaya Tithi (when the date begins in the morning) is important, so the Papmochani Ekadashi fast will be observed on 25th March.

When will Kamada Ekadashi 2025 be Observed?

According to the Hindu Panchang, the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of Chaitra month will begin on 7th April 2025 at 8:00 PM and conclude on 8th April at 9:12 PM. Therefore, Kamada Ekadashi will be celebrated on 8th April 2025.

Chaitra Ekadashi Pujan Method

– Wake up early in the morning and take a bath. Wear yellow-colored clothes.
– Place an idol of Lord Vishnu on an altar.
– Offer flowers, fruits, incense, lamps, and food to Lord Vishnu.
– Recite the Vishnu Sahasranama and chant Vedic mantras.
– Listen to or read the Ekadashi Vrat Katha (story).
– Observe the fast throughout the day. If unable to fast completely, fruits can be consumed.
– In the evening, conduct the ritualistic prayer and aarti for Lord Vishnu, consume prasad, and distribute it among others.
– On the following day, perform the Parana (ending of the fast).
– Avoid eating rice on this day.
– Refrain from anger and lying on this day.
– Follow Brahmacharya (celibacy) on this day.

Religious Significance of Chaitra Ekadashi 2025

Observing the Ekadashi Vrat leads to the blessings of Lord Vishnu. It is believed to bring liberation from sins and grant moksha (liberation from the cycle of birth and death). The fast is said to bring mental peace and spiritual advancement to the practitioner. It also contributes to maintaining physical health. Thus, observing Chaitra Ekadashi brings both spiritual and physical benefits to devotees.
