Bhanu Saptami 2025: Freedom from Diseases, Doshas, and Poverty through Sun Worship
Date of Bhanu Saptami 2025: Bhanu Saptami will be observed on 25th May 2025, Sunday this year.
What is Bhanu Saptami?
Bhanu Saptami, also called Surya Saptami, is a special date dedicated to Lord Sun in Hinduism. This fast is observed every month on the seventh day (Saptami) of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the lunar calendar. When Saptami falls on a Sunday, it is known as “Bhanu Saptami.” “Bhanu” is another name for the Sun. This day is considered highly auspicious for worshipping the Sun God to remove diseases, sins, and poverty through His radiant power.
Best Day for Sun Worship:
Worshipping Lord Surya on Bhanu Saptami grants longevity, health, radiance, and fame. It is also considered very beneficial for health according to Ayurveda.
Cure of Diseases and Planetary Doshas:
If the Sun is weak in a person’s horoscope, they may suffer from eye problems, lack of energy, and bad luck. Observing the fast and offering water to the Sun on this day pacifies these Sun-related doshas.
Liberation from Pitru Dosha:
Astrologically, the Sun represents the ancestors (Pitrs). Performing worship and offering oblations (Tarpan) on Bhanu Saptami helps in removing Pitru Dosha.
Increase in Marriage, Career, and Respect:
The Sun symbolizes self-confidence, leadership, and government jobs. Fasting on this day enhances self-esteem, respect, and social status.
Brief Worship Procedure:
• Wake up before sunrise, take a bath, and take the vow to fast.
• In a copper vessel, put water, red flowers, rice grains (Akshat), and jaggery, and offer it as Arghya to Lord Surya.
• Chant the Sun mantra “Om Ghṛṇi Sūryāya Namah” 108 times.
• Recite the Surya Chalisa or Aditya Hridaya Stotra.
• Follow a sattvic (pure) diet throughout the day and repeatedly bow to the Sun God.
Why Observe Bhanu Saptami?
This fast is highly effective for people suffering from chronic illnesses, those with a weak Sun in their birth chart, or facing ancestral curses, eye problems, or lack of vitality. It is an excellent day to gain spiritual strength, radiance, and respect.
Caution:
Never look directly at the Sun with naked eyes while offering water. Take expert advice before performing the fast for specific dosha remedies.
