Hanuman Mandir
Description
India has several ancient and famous Hanuman temples, most notably the Connaught Place Temple in Delhi (self-manifested idol, 24-hour chanting) and the Hanumangarhi (child form) in Ayodhya. Other famous temples include the reclining Hanuman in Prayagraj and the Sankat Mochan Temple in Varanasi, where devotees come to make their wishes.
Major Hanuman Temples:
Hanuman Temple, Connaught Place, Delhi: Dating back to the Mahabharata period, it houses a self-manifested idol and has been continuously chanting “Shri Ram Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram” since 1964. Wikipedia
Hanumangarhi, Ayodhya: This temple is situated on a high mound, where Lord Hanuman in his child form is seated in the lap of Mother Anjani .
Bade Hanuman Temple, Prayagraj: Located near the fort, it houses a 20-foot tall reclining statue of Hanuman, which is unique in the world. Wikipedia
Sankatmochan Temple, Varanasi: This temple is believed to have been established by Tulsidas and houses a divine idol of Hanuman .
Hanuman Dhara, Chitrakoot: Here, a continuous stream of water flows over the head of the statue situated on the mountainside.
Features
These temples are heavily crowded during Hanuman Jayanti (Chaitra Purnima).
The Connaught Place Temple in Delhi has a unique spire with a crescent moon symbol, which dates back to the Mughal period.
