Transits (Gochar) – Planets Visiting Your Life Like Relatives

By Dr. Rajiv Bajpai
Astrology without transits is like cricket without commentary. You may have the pitch (your birth chart), but unless you know who is batting today (the transiting planets), you won’t
know if it’s going to be a six or a clean bowled! Transits (Gochar) simply show what the planets are “up to” right now, and how they connect with your chart. Some come like a
happy uncle with sweets, some like a strict father with lectures, and some… like Rahu, arrive uninvited and happily eat all the samosas.

Houses of Transit – Which Room is Lit Up?

Your chart is like a house with 12 rooms. Whenever a planet enters one, that room lights up. Example: When Jupiter enters your 4th house (home), suddenly the focus is on family, house, or vehicles. One of my clients laughed, “As soon as Jupiter came to my 4th house, my wife dragged me to 20 property dealers. I thought Jupiter was expansion, not exhaustion!” Saturn in the 10th house feels as though your boss is sitting in your office, watching your every move. Tough, but this is how Saturn teaches discipline — and those lessons last.

Aspects – When Planets Gossip

Planets don’t just sit quietly in their rooms. They keep throwing glances (aspects) at each other — sometimes affectionate, sometimes sarcastic. Example: Mars aspecting your Moon can suddenly bring irritation at home. One client told me, “I even argued with my cat!” That’s Mars — fighting energy, even when there’s no real opponent.

House Relationships – Counting Like Ludo

Astrology often feels like a board game. We count houses to see how planets relate. 1/1 Conjunction: Two planets in the same house. If it’s Jupiter + Venus, you get cakes and joy. If it’s Saturn + Mars, you get arguments and broken plates. 6/8 (Enemy zone): Always tense. Like neighbours who fight over parking every day. 3/11 (Growth houses): Like a gym trainer — tough in the beginning, but you come out stronger.

Jupiter & Saturn – The CEO and HR of Life

While every planet matters, Jupiter and Saturn decide the bigger story. Jupiter’s Transit: He’s the generous uncle. I’ve seen marriages, promotions, and sudden opportunities when Jupiter enters the right house. One client’s marriage was fixed exactly when Jupiter entered their 7th house. Saturn’s Transit: The strict teacher. At first, Saturn feels heavy. A client once told me, “My 10th house Saturn ruined my job.” Later, he realised Saturn pushed him into a better, more secure career. Saturn delays, but then delivers — like a late Amazon order that finally arrives with exactly what you need.

Moon – The Cosmic Bell

Moon is the timer. While Jupiter and Saturn decide the theme, the Moon tells you when. Example: One client had Saturn in the 7th house (marriage delays). But the actual wedding talks began exactly the week when Moon passed through that house. That’s the Moon’s “ding-dong” moment.

Rahu & Ketu – The Unpredictable Guests

Rahu and Ketu are like those relatives who never RSVP but always show up, bringing both gifts and drama. Example: A client got a foreign job (Rahu in 10th) but at the same time had to leave his family behind (Ketu in 4th). With them, life always gives and takes together.

Eclipses – Cosmic Reset Buttons

Eclipses are like sudden power cuts — everything goes dark, and when the lights return, something has changed. One client had an eclipse exactly on her Sun (career). Within three months, she left her corporate job and started a bakery. She laughed later, “Rajivji, that eclipse turned my laptop into a rolling pin!”

My Simple Formula for Reading Transits

Whenever you look at transits, just remember: 1. Which house is lit up? (That’s the area of life) 2. Who is gossiping? (Aspects of planets) 3. Which relatives get pulled in? (Rulers of houses) 4. Jupiter brings laddoos, Saturn brings lessons, Moon rings the bell, and Rahu/Ketu crash the party.

Final Word – Welcoming the Cosmic Guests

Life under transits is like hosting relatives. You can’t stop them from coming, but you can prepare. Some bring gifts, some bring drama, but each one teaches something. As I
always remind my clients:

■ When Saturn locks a door, Jupiter usually leaves the window open.
■ When Rahu steals your food, Ketu teaches you the art of fasting.
■ And when the Moon rings the bell — the event is already at your doorstep. — Dr. Rajiv Bajpai
